Imaginary Game Jam 2026 — theme category: Magical Research · personal twist from the Wheel of Wonder: Incantations
FOR FANS OF · Papers Please, Return of the Obra Dinn, and paperwork puzzles
On Tuesday, at nine o'clock exactly, somebody in Sub-Office 4 said a word that is not in the register.
For the next sixty-one minutes every person inside the building could say only what they actually meant. Nothing else happened. Nothing caught fire. Two people resigned and both of them took it back at four minutes past ten.
It is Wednesday. You are the junior clerk. Form 9 is on your desk with two lines blank — which incantation, and who said it — and Form 9 may not be closed with blank lines.
Twelve documents. Six drawers. Seven ways to close the file.
Read the verbatim minutes of a meeting in which nobody could lie. Read a refrigerator audit that turns, in its last four lines, into something else. Then assemble the incantation out of three syllables — one that came up the air return, one that survived on a burned card, and one that the whole family on page 311 has in common — and write a name on line two.
- One player, 15–25 minutes
- Plays in the browser. One HTML file. No download, no account, nothing to install
- No timer, no fail state, no puzzle that blocks you — everything you need is written down somewhere
- Your progress is saved in this browser
Cameo. Gobbo and Furny (Rogue Climber) and Metic (Meticulous) are on the premises. One of them is returning a crate. One of them has eaten something. One of them has been weighing it for five weeks.
